“South Carolina’s Massive Dogfighting Ring: How One Lucky Canine Was Rescued and Given a New Lease on Life”

The Humane Society of the United States has rendered assistance to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Inspector General in seizing 275 dogs from a dogfighting ring that had been operating across various locations in Columbia, South Carolina. Little, one of the rescued dogs, is among those hoping for a chance at a new life.

The dogs were found residing outdoors either in kennels or tied up with chains, with makeshift barrels or other structures serving as their only shelters. A few of the canines appeared to be malnourished and were left exposed to the scorching heat without any means of sustenance or hydration.

Rescuers came across dogs that had suffered from severe injuries such as scars, open sores, lacerations, and abscesses. In order to address the gravity of their wounds, certain dogs that were confined in kennels or tied to trees in the forest needed to be removed from the area and provided with immediate medical attention.

Even though the work might not be complete, these beloved furry friends will never have to endure any type of abuse ever again.
