A magnificent, oversized bird with a “memorable” song performed by the male during his mating ritual dance, featuring a bowing exhibition along with a chatty bubbling and loud gurgling!
This bird is native to and nests in Caribbean coastal lowlands from southeastern Mexico to central Panama, but is not found in El Salvador and southern Guatemala. It can also be seen in Nicaragua and Honduras, as well as Costa Rica.
Montezuma Oropendolas enjoy residing high up in the treetops of the forest, near the borders of wooded areas and older plantations. These majestic birds are frequently spotted searching for small animals, insects, fruits, and nectar in groups among the branches.
